We arrived and departed from the old terminal of the 2 the airport consists of. We where here in febuary and it seems to not be that busy, so everthing went pretty smothely and easy. The old terminal itself is a bit worn out and old but everthing seemed to work.
The security staff is not very service minded or helpful, they just yell and point and the hole system with their security is abit old fashined and needs updating.
There was enough of shops and food venders given the size of the airport

Very poor terminal organization on departure.
My flight was scheduled from Terminal 2, but after arriving there I was told it had been moved to Terminal 1. In most international airports, terminal changes aren’t a major issue because there are shuttle buses or internal connections. Not here. The terminals are about 2 km apart with no proper connection. I had to leave the airport area and negotiate with a taxi driver just to reach the correct terminal. That’s not acceptable for an airport that presents itself as international.
Departure process overall was frustrating.
There are too many checkpoints: two security screenings, passport control, and immigration. Even with online check-in and no checked luggage, I was still required to go to the check-in/luggage drop counter just to obtain the immigration card. This defeats the purpose of online check-in and adds unnecessary delays.
Arrival experience was average.
The visa on arrival is cash-only, no card payments accepted. I had to withdraw money from an ATM inside the airport, which could easily be avoided if card payments were allowed.
Overall, the airport works — but the organization and passenger flow need serious improvement. And the toilets are not very well kept. Also there are no charging stations for phones inside. So yes- a below average airport overall.

My port of entry into Egypt. Surprisingly no scams, paid my $25 visa fee and the immigration officer was friendly. Didn’t wait long for the baggage to come out on the conveyor belt. Got my sim card from We (15 gb for $7 and can pay by credit card). Then used the app to book an Uber ride to town. Uber drivers tried to overcharge but don’t let them do it.

A large airport that supposedly has international as well as domestic flights. Don’t see any international flights on the board. Perhaps it can handle large aircraft to get international tag. All flights we saw on the board were domestic to Cairo. Being a seaside city, it’s popular beach destination for Cairo residents and international tourists. Security is tight here, including passenger checks. Airport departure lounge is simple with a nice cafe and heaps of comfortable seating. Plenty of passengers here. Huge car parking area for vehicles.

I had a great experience at this airport. Modern, clean. Yes, there is a huge amount of security and passport checks however it all went quickly and efficiently – no problems at all. The queue for buying a visa also went quickly. As you step outside the airport, the transfers from all the travel agencies are well organised and simple. We were never asked for tips by airport staff like in other airports I’ve been to. There’s plenty of food places and shops available, from duty free to souvenir to even phone and perfume shops. BE CAREFUL in the duty free shops because they don’t have prices and will give you an extortionate price – one keyring $7.50, water €4 !!! Lots of seating everywhere
