It is my second visit.
It wasn’t a good one at all. Very bad attitude from all the serving staff and very slow service.
Moreover, the hot drink I ordered came almost cold, I think I will not repeat this experience again.
My family members also weren’t happy by the behavior and serving.
To be honest, my first visit 2 years ago was different, It was nice. I think the staff was different, they were highly respectful.
I share my experience to talk with the staff to be more professional with treating guests, for the cafe reputation.
I am giving 4 stars, although based solely on today’s experience I would have considered giving 1 star.
The reason was the very unprofessional and unnecessarily rude communication from Mr. Ali, the manager, when my family and I wanted to sit at one of the tables while having ice cream we had purchased. We were two women with four small children and had already spent over 1,000 EGP at the patisserie section. Instead of approaching the situation politely, he immediately informed us that we could not sit there and should leave, without even asking whether we would like to order any drinks or additional items.
What made the situation worse was being told that the table was occupied because the guests had gone to the restroom. However, there was no water bottle, no personal belongings, no reserved sign, and no indication whatsoever that the table was occupied. The way this was communicated felt disrespectful and lacked basic hospitality and empathy.
I strongly suggest that Mr. Ali receives additional training in guest relations and professional communication. Situations like this can easily be handled respectfully and diplomatically without making guests feel unwelcome or embarrassed.
The reason I am still giving 4 stars is because this experience does not reflect what I have known about Exception over the past three years. We visit regularly, and the restaurant consistently serves excellent chicken dishes, delicious cakes and pastries, and very good beverages. In my experience, 99% of the staff are friendly, professional, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant to deal with.
I would also like to sincerely thank Mr. Ahmed from the patisserie section, who came to speak with us afterward and apologized for the situation. His kindness, professionalism, and attention to the matter truly reflected the spirit of the place and helped restore some of our confidence after an otherwise disappointing experience.
I hope management takes this feedback constructively, as one negative interaction should not overshadow the many positive experiences that have kept us coming back for years.
The croissant wasn’t crispy, the chocolate of the San Sebastián had an oily coating, , the chairs, and tables weren’t well-maintained, the receipt sleeve was damaged and had been drawn on, the waiter was in a rush and busy with the orders like in a fast-food restaurant, so I won’t be going back unless it’s an emergency. Very disappointed
The place and location are actually pretty good. Especially if you want to enjoy a meal or spend time with friends n family during the dusk with some cool breeze blowing you can definitely choose to go there. The issue is mainly with the overpricing of food, cleanliness
(dusty tables and utensils). Those are the reason despite the place being in a vibrant set-up I could not rate it more than 3 out of 5.

A good patisserie that I tried few times with both in and outdoors seating areas. May be slightly pricey but well worth it.
