Regency Inn

We recently stayed here during our Egypt trip and unfortunately this was the most uncomfortable hotel of the five we used.

Pros:
The location was great. It was in the central part of the city.
The host was very helpful and advised us some good places to visit and eat.

Cons:

The building is over 100 years old and the hotel itself is located on the 2nd floor. There is no lift, and there was no staff available to help with luggage, so we had to carry all our bags up the stairs ourselves. There are also no clear signboards outside, so even locating the hotel entrance was confusing.

The room is listed as around 323 sq ft, but the actual usable floor space feels much smaller — the high ceiling makes the size seem larger in photos, while the room itself is very cramped. Noise from the lobby and corridor travels straight into the room, making it difficult to relax.

The bathroom layout is very impractical. The toilet is so close to the sink that it is uncomfortable to sit, and the sink is positioned right under the mirror so you keep bumping into it. The bathroom door is a thin folding plastic door that doesn’t close properly and opens directly toward one of the beds, which feels very awkward from a privacy perspective.

There is no dedicated breakfast area — breakfast is delivered to the room, but the bread we received was stale and not suitable to eat. This was the only hotel in Egypt where we experienced such poor breakfast quality.

The rooms also do not have usable balconies. Only one room in the entire property seem to have balconies, and one faces a backyard area that looks like a dumping zone — definitely not somewhere guests can sit and relax. (Photos attached)

Overall, the rooms feel tight, closed-in and poorly ventilated, and the facilities do not match the description or the price. I sincerely hope management improves the bathroom design, breakfast quality, signage, luggage support, and accuracy of room and balcony descriptions.

The customer service at Regency Inn is truly outstanding. Bebo, in particular, went above and beyond to ensure my needs were met, demonstrating just how fortunate the inn is to have such dedicated employees. Additionally, the homemade breakfast was fantastic and exceeded my expectations. Overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great experience.

I initially booked for three days but might stay longer. The building is old and the entrance is not great as you have to enter through a shop and old and dusty stairs which does not really reflect the very good condition of the hotel. The reception staff are very friendly. I did comment about the toilet to Basma and I was immediately texted by Nouran when I was out asking what the problems were. I told her and I was offered other room for next day as it would be available then. I was moved in a room with two single beds which looks far more better than the other one. Generally speaking, the hotel is good value for money at prime location.
