I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum, and it completely exceeded my expectations. The entire place is incredibly well-organized, making it seamless and comfortable to navigate despite its massive scale.
There is an overwhelming amount of unique history to see and explore here—every corner features stunning artifacts and brilliant displays that tell Egypt’s rich story in a way I’ve never seen before. You could easily spend hours completely captivated by the exhibits.
What truly elevates the entire experience is the staff. Every single person I encountered was exceptionally friendly, incredibly welcoming, and always ready to support or guide visitors with a genuine smile. It is a world-class destination and an absolute must-visit for anyone traveling to Egypt!

GEM truly takes your breath away from the very first moments. It’s an absolute must-see for anyone interested in ancient culture and history. The architecture and the building itself are simply amazing.
Everything is very well organized, and the exhibitions are incredibly impressive. The galleries are fascinating, with the Tutankhamun collection being especially outstanding.
What stands out is the overarching theme of mortality, kingship, temples, gods, and the afterlife, which runs beautifully throughout the museum.
I would strongly recommend visiting with a guide—it really helps to navigate the vast number of artifacts and fully understand their meaning.
An extraordinary place with a powerful, almost spiritual atmosphere.

Amazing!! It’s so rich and full of great pieces and everything is so organized and clean. I advice trying out the workshops too they are very interesting. The game was also very fun with my friends, hope they add more activities there. Oh and ofc we took a tour guide to tell us the stories behind the important pieces and it was the best decision ever she was so nice and taught us many interesting facts.
The only downside for me was the Triumph open buffet, food was so meh and not various. Overall experience is good and would definitely go back to take a closer look at everything.
And please don’t forget to wear comfy shoes 🙂

This is one of the most impressive museums we have ever visited. It is enormous and very modern. The architecture both inside and outside is beautiful. After entering with your tickets you walk up to the great entrance, the main hall is open but it is designed be stay cool. If you want to visit the Tutankhamun galleries it’s best to do it as early as possible because later in the day it can get quite busy with queues to see the famous mask. The rest of the collection is displayed magnificently. The lighting and decoration is exquisite and the calm, instrumental background music enhances the experience. There is plenty of information available with all artefacts.
To visit the Khufu boat museum you have to cross the garden on the other side of the museum, this building is also wonderful and it was great to see the boat up close. We did not use a guide for our visit as all the guides that were accompanying other people seemed quite rushed. There are plenty of shops present in the main hall, including a gift shop, clothing stores, restaurants and ATM’s. This museum is a must-visit in Cairo!

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is absolutely majestic and a world-class tribute to Egypt’s history. The architecture alone is breathtaking, and the way the complex offers a marvelous view of the pyramids is simply unforgettable. I highly recommend purchasing the official museum tour guide service when you book your ticket online; their knowledge is excellent, and it means you don’t need to hire an outside guide. The highlight of the visit is undoubtedly the Tutankhamun treasures, which are outstanding. Please note that his mommy is not in this museum.
You must buy your tickets online in advance, as you cannot purchase them at the entrance. Be prepared for the booking process, as it took us some time because our credit card issuer required a security code via text message; make sure you have your phone and a good signal ready as entrance are time stamped. When you arrive, it is very easy to use Uber, though you should be prepared to ignore the persistent taxi drivers harassing tourists at the entrance and exit. Even though a “La, Shukran” will not be enough.
The facilities inside are fantastic (as of May 2026), with great shopping and a wide variety of restaurants—there is even a Starbucks for a quick caffeine pump. Since the museum is massive, make sure to wear very comfortable shoes as you will be doing a lot of walking. However, if you get tired, there are plenty of areas to sit and rest throughout the complex. It is a spectacular experience that perfectly balances ancient wonders with modern convenience!
Be prepared to spend at least 6 hours to enjoy the whole place!
