Disappointing experience – misleading pricing and unprofessional staff
We visited this restaurant after being told the day before to make a reservation. However, when we arrived, the atmosphere was completely dead—the place was empty, with only two other tables occupied.
The biggest issue, however, was the lack of transparency with the pricing. The prices listed on the menu are not what you actually pay. They add both VAT and a service fee at the end, making the final bill 20% to 30% higher than expected. It is written in tiny font at the bottom of the menu that prices are “exclusive of VAT,” but the waitstaff should absolutely emphasize this upon arrival. I don’t understand why they can’t just list the full, transparent prices. Other restaurants in the Jaz complex manage to have normal, honest menus. It’s not a matter of the money—the clientele visiting this restaurant can certainly afford it—it’s a matter of basic honesty and respect for the guests.
To make matters worse, the staff was extremely unpleasant. They were all huddled together in the middle of the restaurant, whispering and smirking at guests as they walked by, which felt very uncomfortable and unprofessional.
The food was okay, but unfortunately, that was the only decent part of the entire evening. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place.

Pier88 Beach at Almaza Bay is a genuinely pleasant spot for anyone looking to relax by the sea with great food, a relaxed vibe, and quality service. The beach itself is stunning—clean, clear waters and soft white sand. It’s well-maintained and not overly crowded, which adds to the overall calm atmosphere.
The setup is tasteful and minimal without being pretentious. Sunbeds are comfortable and spaced out nicely, and there’s an easygoing soundtrack playing in the background that helps you settle in. Staff were consistently polite, helpful, and attentive without being overbearing.
Food-wise, the menu is more refined than you’d expect from a beach spot. We tried a few dishes, and everything—from the seafood to the fresh salads—was well-prepared and served promptly. Prices are on the higher side, but fair considering the quality and location.
Drinks were refreshing and nicely presented, and there’s a decent selection of options whether you’re after a cocktail or something simple.
All in all, Pier88 isn’t trying too hard—it’s just a well-run beach venue that delivers on its promise of good vibes, good food, and a premium yet laid-back experience. Would happily return for another quiet, sunny day by the water.

Nothing beats pier88 steak, milanese and the taste they have. I would go to every single branch they have across Egypt. Definitely my favorite Italian in Egypt. This one has an amazing ambience and beach vibes 😍

Atmosphere feels very beach but cool at the same time. The seating is wonderful and very comfortable and homey. We got seated right away. The steak was so good, we ordered medium well and it came medium well. The pizza was a must get, very unique and creative. The truffle pasta also was wonderful and would definitely recommend. I was a little disappointed with the service, when I order something, I expect to receive it. Unfortunately, they missed some or our drinks and messed up one of the main courses. Luckily, the easy solution to this is writing down the orders. I also recommend bringing out all of the main courses at the same time so we can eat together. Overall the food and atmosphere were great, but the service can bd improved. 7.8/10.
