The Nile Ritz-Carlton, Cairo

Start with location which is superb It is in the heart of downtown Cairo making it super convenient for those who like to see the late 1800′ and early 1900’s architecture of the city, which I guess no more tourists are attracted to this type of travel any more but a bunch of oldies who have nostalgia to those years. On the other hand, the front side of the hotel overlook the River Nile. A magnificent scenery especially during dark hours of the day.
The old Egyptian Museum is few paces from the back of the hotel, the exact exit that leads you to the Tahrir Square and the Khedivian Cairo.
My room overlooking the river was spacious with 2 queen size beds and amenities that a 4 or 5 stars hotel supposed to
has.
Clean bathroom butvthe room itself has its minor cleaning issues.
View from the stretched wide glass window is beautiful.
Noise from traffic in the front road is perfectly insulated in the contrary to music from some where in the hotel that keep penetratining my ears from midnight to the early hours of the day. A noticeable wide gab in the door could be the reason.
Some reviews referred to the rooms as outdated I think yes and the management keep the rooms that way as part of the history and character of the hotel.
Not much to say about the intercontinental breakfast.
As good as in other similarly stared hotels.
I have no extraordinary experience in this Ritz, actually I was surprised who much this hotel is like any other 4 or 5 stars hotel I have been to in Egypt before and it offers no exceptional stay despite the big name.
Me my self would recommend it for those who just want to walk through the streets and alleys of Early 19th century Cairo.

We recently booked a table for three at the Ritz-Carlton in Cairo with the understanding that there would be a high-quality show included, along with a minimum spend of 3500 per person. We were happy to meet this requirement, expecting a premium experience that reflects the reputation of such a well-known venue.
Unfortunately, the overall experience was extremely disappointing.
While the service itself was good and the staff were polite and attentive, the main reason for our visit — the entertainment — was far below expectations. The show, which was advertised as a key part of the experience, was not professional and lacked quality. In fact, it was significantly below what one would expect even from much smaller or less expensive venues across Egypt. The performances before midnight were particularly poor, unengaging, and not up to any reasonable standard for a venue of this level.
The only highlight of the evening was the final performer, a female musician who delivered an excellent performance. However, one good act at the end does not make up for the overall low standard of entertainment throughout the night.
In addition, the food was also below average. There was nothing particularly memorable or impressive about it, especially considering the price point. For the amount we were required to spend, we expected a much higher level of quality in both food and overall experience.
It is worth noting that in Egypt, there are many venues offering far better shows and more enjoyable atmospheres at a significantly lower cost. This made the experience even more disappointing, as the value for money was simply not there.

As part of the National Geographic tour in Egypt, we spent 3 nights at the beginning of the trip and last 2 nights at the end of trip at this hotel.
The candid feedback is that it is a stretchy Ritz, in that all the other Ritz I have stayed have met higher standards. The first 3 nights were disappointing because we had expected better. The issues ranging from major to minor – (1) a dated feel in the lobby and cigarette odor (2) dated decor in the room (3) night club noise on every night of our stay for the Nile-facing rooms, the boom sound requires solid noise-cancellation ear-plug. (4) elevator is typically slow.
On the positive side, breakfast variety is exceptional, with a nice pastry corner, egg station, local food corner, and a variety of salad/veggie, there are smoked fish in addition to cured meats. The fruits section was incredible and delicious, and there is always rows and rows of variety of yogurt, chia, muesli in small jars.
Gym was also very nice, well equipped. But service was just so so. There is a burly attendant there all the time, but he failed to notice that water cooler isn’t working, and there is no bottled water left.
On our return trip for the last 2 nights, we had a renewed appreciation of this hotel, after a miserable experience on the Jaz Regent Nile Cruise. It was refreshing to come back and have the space, amazing breakfast and just the general convenience.
Location – while on Nile, it is located in a very busy part of Cairo, facing some casino/night club. It is right next to the Antiquities museum, but otherwise, other hotels probably are worth considering, for example, Marriott Mena House mostly certainly is more impressive, better food, and next to GEM and Giza.
