Abdul Moneim Gaber Complex for Cinema Theaters and Production

Stumbled upon this place completely by chance while walking home one night — and it turned out to be one of the most unexpected highlights of the trip. A live play was already mid-run, bought a ticket for 75 EGP, walked in with no expectations.

The play was a clever Egyptian comedic spin on the In Time (2011) film concept — same premise, same hand-touch time-transfer mechanic, even the same sound effect — but rewired with Islamic values, sharp comedy, and a genuinely meaningful message about how we waste our lives while the devil gleefully steals our time. Woven throughout were punchy scenes about economic hardship, unaffordable meat, unemployment, and class divide. The audience — mostly Gen Z, same age as the young cast — was fully engaged, laughing hard, applauding at every punchline that hit too close to home. You could feel the room.

The cast was 20–30 year olds who clearly have real talent. Theatre was almost full on a regular night — these guys are on the rise. 🙌

If you happen to walk by and something’s playing — just go in. 75 EGP for a genuinely memorable cultural experience. I’ll be doing more of this.

The Abdel Moneim Jaber Complex contains a theater and cinema hall, and halls for rehearsals for plays are also available. It is an honorable model for a cultural and artistic complex at a sophisticated and distinguished level.
