Yes, it’s a nice hospital, but why do you have a phone number if no one answers, especially since the line opens and closes automatically after 40 seconds? Have some fear of God!

Al-Maamoura Psychiatric Hospital is the largest psychiatric hospital in Alexandria. It was established in the Al-Awaid area, on Al-Nabawi Al-Muhandis Street. It was named as such at one time to be far from urban development. However, urban sprawl has encroached upon it, and it is now almost within the city limits. It was built in the early 1960s to accommodate approximately one thousand male and female psychiatric patients, and subsequently, many specialized departments were added. A specialized addiction treatment center was also established, staffed by a select group of highly skilled addiction treatment teams. Al-Maamoura Hospital is affiliated with the General Secretariat of Psychiatry in Abbassia, headed by the Secretary-General of Psychiatry. During the tenure of Dr. Ahmed Kamal El-Din, the hospital established the first outpatient clinic for psychiatric illnesses in Alexandria under the government health sector. This clinic provides follow-up care for mental health cases, dispenses psychiatric medications free of charge, and admits patients when necessary. The outpatient clinic also includes a specialized department for treating child psychiatry, a specialized department for geriatric psychiatry, and another for addiction treatment. The hospital has been managed by a succession of professors of psychiatry in Alexandria, including Dr. Kamal El-Fawal, Dr. Ahmed Kamal El-Din, Dr. Hussein El-Halawani, and Dr. Talaat Bishri. The current general manager of the hospital is Dr. Mamdouh Abu Rayan.
