The service was extremely slow, and the staff were not helpful at all. Even the booking process took two days with no real cooperation, and we did not receive a confirmation until only two hours before our arrival. We were told that the hotel was almost fully booked, but during our stay we hardly saw any guests except one person.
The hotel required full payment in advance, yet our room was not ready until 3 PM. Basic items such as towels were not provided on time. When we requested just a one-hour late check-out, we were asked to pay an extra fee. It seems that when the hotel causes delays, guests are expected to accept them, but when guests need a small accommodation, they are charged extra.
The hotel is very modest in all aspects and does not meet expectations. The reception staff were not helpful, uncooperative, and showed little interest in assisting guests.
Worst experience ever.
I do not recommend dealing with non-refundable bookings because, in the end, I thought I was dealing directly with Booking.com, but unfortunately I was wrong.
I booked at Alexander The Great Hotel in Alexandria with a non-refundable reservation. When I arrived, I was shocked to find that the hotel looked nothing like the photos. The furniture was old, and even worse, the apartment was not actually inside the hotel. It was located in a separate building with no security measures, no reception, and not even a doorman.
I did not complete the check-in and immediately asked the hotel for a refund. They told me to contact Booking.com and refuse to help
wi left the hotel and i waist my money
Overall, the hotel was nice and located right in the heart of downtown Alexandria, which was a big plus. The location made it very easy to get around and enjoy the city. The Wi-Fi was super good, fast and reliable, which I really appreciated during my stay. The staff were also very kind, helpful, and always welcoming, which made the experience even better. Considering everything, the hotel is definitely good value for money.
The only downside was that there were construction works nearby, at the church next to the hotel, which caused some noise in the mornings. It was a bit disturbing at times, but thankfully it didn’t ruin the overall experience.
All in all, it was a pleasant stay, and despite the morning noise, everything else was nice and comfortable.
At first, the hotel was not very easy to find, but once I reached the check-in desk, I was warmly welcomed by the very friendly Mr. Mina, who offered me an upgrade from the originally booked hotel. Although I arrived two hours before the scheduled check-in time, I was given a room without any problem.
“Room” is an understatement—it was a very spacious apartment with a lounge area, a large bedroom, and a bathroom. Two air conditioning units easily maintained the desired temperature, and the internet was fast enough for remote work. The bed was very large and comfortable, and the area is very quiet.
Breakfast was delicious and included an omelet, fruit, cheese, vegetables, juice, and a selection of bread—more than enough. Mr. Mina was happy to answer all my questions, and I’m very glad I chose this hotel. Thank you very much for a wonderful stay!
