This restaurant is one of the best Ethiopian restaurants I’ve ever tried in my life (and I have been to so many of them!)
The staff, the atmosphere and the food; everything was extraordinary. We enjoyed our time so much and we are definitely coming back!
(If you go to Anbessa you HAVE to try the coffee, it’s a must!)

I had a great experience with Anbessa Restaurant & Cafe. I ordered Doro Wat and Beef Tibs, and both dishes were absolutely delicious rich in flavor, well-seasoned, and very authentic.
What really stood out was their service. Despite the bad weather, they went above and beyond to make sure my order was delivered safely and on time. That level of care and commitment is rare and truly appreciated. Mr. Ahmed was the hero of the day!!!
Highly recommend this place if you’re craving Ethiopian food. Great taste and even better service!!!

Great little restaurant in a residential neighborhood. Service was fantastic, staff are so friendly. We got the veggie platter plus a few meat options. All were cooked well with fantastic flavor. Highly recommend if you are vegan/vegetarian.

December 2025: came in to try Eritrean food. It turned out that Eritrea and Ethiopia share the same cuisine but they are two different countries politically. Traditional decor, friendly staff clean open kitchen. We got the veggie mix plus doro wot in the middle. They say it’s for 2 people but it feels 3 people easily. There were lintels, mixed veggies, cooked beets and fresh green salad, all on a bed of of ingera ( national bread like a crepe). I looked the flavors. But I preferred if the herbs were stronger. The staff was so nice explaining the food for us new to the rich cuisine. The manager did introduce us to there national drink. It’s rough in vitamin c, has guava texture but a tang of tamarind. The coffee afterwards is delicious. It’s similar to sudanese coffee I tried in Aswan(south of Egypt). Would go back again to try other dishes.

I’m Yemeni, and there are many Ethiopian restaurants in Yemen. I used to eat Ethiopian food all the time when I was living there — I really love it. It’s been about 10 years since I last had Doro Wat, but today I went to a restaurant called Anbessa in Cairo, Egypt. The food was delicious, the service was excellent — the staff explained everything and were very kind. The Ethiopian atmosphere was present in the décor and music, and it was a wonderful experience with reasonable prices.
