A Cozy Dessert Spot That Needs More Consistency

Chocolate Factory has always been one of the iconic dessert spots in Alexandria, and it’s a place I’ve visited many times over the years. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, with plenty of seating options. They also have a lovely outdoor seating area overlooking the Greek-Roman Museum and the famous Fouad Street, which is especially enjoyable during the winter. In the summer, however, it can get quite hot outside.

On my latest visit, we ordered a Kinder skillet, a chocolate crepe, and a Coke. The skillet was excellent—perfectly served, with the right temperature, portion, and amount of sauce. The crepe was good, but a bit too thin and slightly chewy, so it wasn’t on the same level.

One issue I’ve noticed over several visits is that many of the cakes listed on the menu are often unavailable. More than once, I’ve asked for multiple cake options only to be told they were out of stock, even when visiting early in the day.

Another thing I found odd is that there are no separate smoking and non-smoking sections. Smoking is allowed throughout the entire place, including the outdoor seating, which can be a bit annoying if you prefer a smoke-free environment.

The service is decent, but the waiters can sometimes take a while to notice when you want to order or ask for the bill.

Overall, it’s still a good dessert spot with a great atmosphere, but I hope they improve the consistency of the menu, the service, and provide a non-smoking area for guests who prefer it.
