The only souvenirs worth buying in Cairo.
Reject the Chinese made stuff you see in all the markets here. Cheaper and easier to buy that stuff on Temu or Aliexpress. Buy some of this hand made art and support an old community in Cairo.
Prices are very reasonable. A standard sized cushion cover is 250EGP for basic, 350EGP for more intricate and 800 for the very intensive work at that size. You can also get longer cushion covers for 1000EGP I think it was.
I got the 350 quality because the 250 was a little bit too rustic for me.
I would suggest browsing up and down the short market first before approaching a seller as I just went to the first one. I was very happy with their service though so I recommend them.
The shop I went to did have credit card facilities and didn’t charge a surcharge to use it.

This is the best place to buy fabrics on very low prices, but make sure that you don’t drive there, but rather take a taxi, it’s very crowded market in the old city, you can always bargain, and fibd different pricing, so don’t rush yourself, nearby are lots of small road side sales spreading their products on roadside or small carriages, you can also find many other mobile phones shops, electrical equipment sales.,. Even if you don’t wish to buy anything, you can spend some time there, but be ware of heat in summer.

Cloth/tent maker’s market was a great place to visit. It’s very much a locals market, so hardly any tourists, which also means the prices are very fair.
We went during Ramadan, so it’s also a great place to buy lights and lanterns and other decorations if you need to.
We also loved the first shop of the street where you can buy beautiful good quality bags for really affordable prices 😊

Very nice place to feel like time traveling with every single corner of it, the scent of history will surround you with every single step you move …I just love that smell of old stones and yellow pages of the books . It’s like a mix of luscious spices
