Ordered: Large Special Cup – Mastica/Dark Chocolate/Honeycomb

One of my favourite ice cream experiences — period!

It’s a straightforward process here at Fresco’s: you choose your desired cup (small, large), then choose your desired flavours (1-3 depending on cup), then enjoy your treat in their cutesy, conditioned indoor section. Doesn’t get much easier.

Now let me tell you about the flavours, because Fresco boasts an assortment of gelato flavours I’ve never seen elsewhere, and every flavour is so delectable in its own unique and refined way.

The mastica had a bold, floral undertone that complimented its milky body. The dark chocolate had that complex and rich profile you would seek in the finest confections. And the honey, the honey had entire shards of honeycomb within it that crunched beneath your teeth in ecstasy, before coating the top of your tongue like a sweet elixir.

Furthermore, I must add that this is real gelato, not the local “gelati”. Don’t get me wrong, I love gelati, but gelato is something entirely different, and both share a very special spot in my heart! Fresco manages to capture the gelato form down to the tea, with its subtle decadence and velvety bite.

Now to be fair, compared to local alternatives, they might seem quite pricey, but when compared to their foreign competitors, they fall within a more average price range. But let me tell you, they sit waaaaay above average in both quality and taste!

I’ve been on a mission to have ice cream weekly for the past year, and have by extension come across a lot of ice cream parlors. Almost any ice cream has the potential to brighten your day, but it is so rare to come across a scoop so good it breaks a festering spiral of despair, and yet somehow, they’ve done it!

Have this ice cream on a dark day. Have this ice cream on a sunny day. Have this ice cream before you leave the mortal realm. It is worth it. Just don’t bring that one skeptic friend who will nag about the price and ruin it for you!
