Koshary El Tahrir is a Cairo institution dedicated to one dish: koshary, the ultimate Egyptian comfort food. The restaurant’s efficiency is legendary — steaming bowls assembled in seconds, layers of pasta, lentils, rice, chickpeas, and crispy onions topped with tangy tomato sauce and spicy dakka.
What sets El Tahrir apart is its consistency and speed. The flavors are bold, satisfying, and unmistakably authentic. The restaurant’s no‑nonsense atmosphere — bright lights, fast service, and constant movement — reflects the spirit of Egyptian street dining at its purest.
Eating koshary here is not just a meal; it is a cultural experience. It captures the energy of Cairo: fast, loud, generous, and full of life.
five stars across the board! their kushari is so uniquely delicious and fresh. the order doesn’t take much time to come in and they consistently keep changing out and replacing the condiments across the tables. you pay after you eat which is always fun and the tables beside the glass are the best to sit at.
One of the famous Koshary restaurants. This location is clean with good service. It gets busy quickly. Food is delicious and probably made with effort and experience. Prices are reasonable but it’s expensive if you compare it with previous days prices .
A restaurant serving a famous Egyptian dish called koshary consisting of a mixture of legumes..great taste and cleanliness that is quite good for Egypt.
Excellent Koshary! Went with family and had a great lunch. They know how to make Koshary. The staff is efficient. However a star off for the seating. Most of the chairs in the family section are broken and need updating, but place is clean.
