they put random food on our table we didn‘t order and added those items to the bill, which doubled the total price. also the food was disgusting and served in dog bowls🫩 i ordered a shawarma and received a hotdog bun with chicken and some peppers

    27/1/26 Wednesday evening meal

We three middle aged guys from London were looking for a snack locally to our hotel. We had passed this place earlier and popped by to check its menu and were given a flier.

We went in and a lively guy took us to a table and put three bottles of water on straight away. We explained we did not eat meat but it did not stop his recommending mary dishes (they have no concept of vegetarian tourists). Koshary is basically vegetarian with meat as expensive options.

We chose two large kosharies and one stuffed bread/sandwich.

He asked if we wanted juices, we ordered two banana milkshakes.

The dishes came quickly and were tasty along with the red tomato sauces in small dishes. The sandwich was good too.

The lemon and garlic sauce helped spice up the koshary too.

We only started two .5l bottles of water, leaving the third unopened.

We finished the meal and he presented a slip of paper with a figure of 575 on it. We said we only had two bottles of water. He then presented another slip of 550… that’s expensive water for a cheap joint. He was all smiles and banter.

Overall it was quite expensive but we decided to pay by cash and leave.

Other nights we had proper meals for the same sort of price. Some reviews said that the flier was western priced whilst the locals paid normal prices. I suppose technically we can afford it.

Surprisingly well. I paid the price from the menu at the very beginning. I suppose they have different menus for foreigners and locals but anyway I knew the price from the start so it’s ok.

However, I waited quite long for my order

December 16, 2025 (Tuesday) was the first day in Egypt for my partner and me. Naturally, we went out and explored the Giza Necropolis (Giza Pyramid Complex) on our first day. Subject to the fact that our flight was quite late to reach Cairo, we did not have time to finish our lunch before visiting the Giza Pyramid Complex. Therefore, by the time we were done with our visit, it was quit late in the afternoon. Therefore, we wanted to have something filling and light in terms of spices. The obvious choice was Koshary (or Kushari). Our rather efficient guide Malaka brought us to this place. All of us ordered Koshary. The taste was amazing. The service was pretty fast and we loved the ambience subject to its local flavour. We came out satisfied with what we ate! Keep up the great work folks!

Really enjoyed our food here last night, we had chicken shawarma crepes which were really crispy and koshary which was tasty. Everything was great value for money. The baked rice pudding is also a great dessert! As tourists, we didn’t experience being scammed and the server even told us if extra things would be extra cost. Note: if you want to pay by card, you have to go pay at a shop opposite because they don’t have their own card machine but that was fine.
