Alexandrian dessert parlor, serving a very wide variety of desserts and “moulid” candies.
Ordered: Hijazia
This place is special in many ways; it is highly maintained, locally acclaimed, and has an immense range. They serve Western and Oriental pastries, boulangeries, ice cream, Moulid candies, and, as of late, even coffee.
I found it overwhelming to choose one thing to review at the time, but thankfully, a chef (Who I believe may have been the head chef) was there to help me with my inquiry and suggested at least one dish from every category. Feeling oriental, I went with the Hijazia recommendation.
And kudos to the chef, for I found this dessert to be quite pleasurable. It felt like a marriage between a stuffed harissa and a traditional maamoul cookie, with a soft and buttery crust, that delightfully crumbled and melted in your palate as you chomped on the dessert. The filling, which seemed to be primarily made of dates and walnuts, gave both moisture and crunch to the overall textural experience.
Flavor-wise, it could be described as wholesome, with mature notes of cinnamon-spice and nuts layered over hints of subtle caramelly sweetness of dates and browned sugar.
Overall, a very lovely experience, and one I would implore you to try if you happen to be in the neighbourhood.
This place is a hidden gem indeed or at least for me as I live in Cairo. I know quite some lads from Alexandria but no-one neither mentioned nor recommend this place. I watched a food review for this place by Coincidence and decided to give it a try .I tried the molten cake , San Sebastián cheesecake and those special cones, they are using high quality ingredients and the taste is marvelous. One of the best desserts I’ve ever tried ❤️👍🏻👍🏻
Marzouk patisserie has a very unique speciality that is called “ Cinash” which is basically mini cinnamon rolls and a think that this is one of the best treats that I ever had!
A must try!
