I had several options from different companies. Honestly, most of the golf cart specifications were very similar, especially when comparing the major brands, so the decision was difficult. Ultimately, I chose Matjar Company and their e-car iconic off-road model, despite the significant price difference compared to the closest model with similar specifications on the market. (The difference was over 250,000 Egyptian pounds.)
Advantages of Matjar Company and the e-car iconic model:
1. Matjar has several branches on the North Coast, and most importantly for me, there’s one in Marassi.
2. The salesman, Hazem, was excellent, professional, and helpful—which is typical of the wonderful Egyptian people.
3. To my knowledge, the golf cart model I bought has the best and most powerful battery on the market in terms of amperage and range, although I haven’t verified this information during my three weeks of use. 4. Three-year warranty on the car and five years on the battery.
5. Includes four free maintenance services for the first year, in addition to accident insurance.
6. Storage service.
On the other hand, the disadvantages:
1. Its price is very high (around 860,000 to 880,000 Egyptian pounds), and to my knowledge, it’s one of the most expensive golf carts in Egypt.
2. Despite its high price, attributed to the superior suspension and overall quality of the car, I experienced some noises from the moment I received it. They told me I needed to drive it a bit since it was new, and that the noises would disappear with use. Unfortunately, the noises increased, and I had to call the maintenance team three times. Each time, they spent about two hours trying to fix most of the noises, even though the car had less than 200 kilometers on it. I’m the only one driving it and I’m very careful with it, especially over bumps.
3. I agreed on the car and its specifications and paid the deposit on June 18, 2026. One of the main reasons I chose this company was their storage service, which was priced at 1350 Egyptian pounds per month when we agreed. Based on this, I decided to take it and accept the significant price difference compared to other options. I received the car on July 26, 2026, and returned it to the company for storage on August 14, 2026. Unfortunately, in less than two months, and without any prior notice, I was surprised to find that the storage price had increased to 2000 Egyptian pounds instead of the agreed-upon 1350.
In short, if I could go back in time, I would have saved over 250,000 and bought a very similar car with the same specifications. Honestly, I didn’t feel the quality of this car justified the price difference, especially considering the noises I experienced while it was brand new and had been used very lightly and with extreme care for less than three weeks.
Furthermore, the sudden and unjustified increase in storage fees was frankly frustrating. When I inquired about the reason, the answer was simply, “You know, prices change every day.”
This company is incredibly greedy. If any repair on a toy car is more expensive than a car at their dealership, then this is a greedy company, and staying away from them is the best thing you can do… Personally, I will never deal with these people again.
