The Worst Stay Ever — A Quarter Million Pounds for a Filthy Villa
I booked a villa in Marassi through BlueKeys for 4 days and paid around 250,000 pounds. Honestly, at that price and in a place like Marassi, the last thing I expected was to receive a villa this filthy.
The first thing we discovered upon arrival was:
* A bedsheet with visible bloodstains.
* Another bedsheet with makeup and hair on it.
* All the sheets and bedding were worn out and tattered, clearly used for years.
* The two air conditioners in the master bedroom were broken and emitting a disgusting odor.
* The carpets weren’t even vacuumed and were covered in crumbs and food scraps.
* We found flies and dead insects on the sofas.
* All the furnishings on the first floor were worn out and covered in strange stains.
* The bathrooms smelled absolutely revolting and unbearable.
* The maid’s room didn’t even have a pillow, and the bedding there was unbelievably dirty.
I contacted BlueKeys and explained the situation. They told me, “No problem, we’ll send you more linens.” The replacement linens arrived, and to my surprise, they were dirtier and worse than the original! When I complained, they said they were from a dry cleaner, even though their condition didn’t suggest that at all.
I asked them to find us another villa or offer any real solution, but they said there was no alternative. The only solution they offered was to send someone to clean the next day, after we had already received the villa and were shocked by its condition.
These aren’t just a few minor hygiene issues; this villa shouldn’t have been given to a guest in the first place. It’s unbelievable that anyone would pay a quarter of a million Egyptian pounds for four days at Marassi and then receive a place like this.
Everything I’ve mentioned is documented with photos.
It was a terrible experience, and I don’t recommend anyone book through BlueKeys. If you absolutely must book, don’t pay or accept the property before inspecting every bed and every room yourself.
I am really disappointed with Mynt’s standards when it comes to selecting the units they offer for rent. I specifically chose to pay above the market rate because I expected this to guarantee a certain level of quality and standards. Unfortunately, unit nunber: ST6-TH4-X1 in Fouka Bay does not meet even the basic standards I would expect.
Here are the main issues:
1. Unpleasant smell: The unit and the bedsheets have an unpleasant smell. I cannot say that the unit is necessarily unclean, but there is a strong smell that I believe may be coming from the low-quality detergents or cleaning products being used.
2. No lighting in the garden: This is a garden chalet, which I specifically rented to enjoy the outdoor garden in the good weather. However, there is not a single light in the garden, making it practically unusable at night. There isn’t even a spotlight available.
3. Very poor lighting inside the chalet: The lighting throughout the chalet is extremely weak. The spotlights are fitted with very low-intensity bulbs, making it almost impossible to properly see, let alone get dressed or get ready at night.
4. Kitchen condition and equipment: The kitchen is very greasy and poorly equipped. There are extremely limited utensils — there isn’t even a basic spatula. The cookware is also greasy and does not appear to have been properly cleaned. There is not even a proper dispenser. On top of that, the refrigerator is broken.
I chose Mynt and paid above market price specifically because I expected better standards and a better overall experience. Unfortunately, this unit has fallen far below those expectations.
I strongly recommend that Mynt reviews the standards and condition of this unit before continuing to list it for rent. Paying a premium should come with a corresponding level of quality, cleanliness, maintenance, and basic amenities, which unfortunately I did not find in unit ST6-TH4-X1
