Still the Best sushi in town?
I’d heard for a long time that Oak Bay is one of the best sushi restaurants in Alexandria, but I’d also heard mixed reviews, so I decided to try it for myself.
I visited on a Sunday around 1 PM, and we were the first customers of the day. Even though the restaurant was empty, everything was spotless. The tables were perfectly set, the restaurant looked well prepared, and the overall atmosphere was calm and welcoming.
I was with a friend who was trying sushi for the first time. We ordered the special Sushi Fiesta (24 pieces), and it arrived in about 15 minutes looking incredibly fresh and appetizing.
The highlights were definitely the Salmon Truffle Roll, Red Philadelphia Roll, and Yakuza Roll—all outstanding. My friend also loved the Lava Roll, which was a great choice for someone new to sushi.
The staff were friendly and attentive, cleared our table promptly, and the restrooms were spotless.
The prices are on the higher side, but the quality of the fish and the overall experience justify it. I can definitely see why so many people consider Oak Bay one of the best sushi spots in Alexandria. I’ve heard that most negative reviews happen during peak hours, so I’ll definitely come back at a busier time to see if the experience stays as consistent.
For this visit, though, it was a flawless 10/10.
