Pharaohs Hotel

A beautiful hotel with a fantastic location, clean rooms, and excellent service. There’s a wonderful restaurant inside the hotel open 24 hours a day, and breakfast is served on a high floor, offering a view of the Nile and a relaxing atmosphere. There are also rooms overlooking the Nile with a truly magical ambiance. In addition, the reception and reservations staff were incredibly kind, experienced, and provided excellent service. I will definitely visit this hotel again.

We spent one night at this hotel as we started our Intrepid Tour. The one and only low point of our entire tour experience. The main issue is that smoking is permitted throughout, even in the rooms, so you sadly have to live in the stench. The rooms are basic. Breakfast is average with a very limited selection. I would not recommend spending more than one night here if you absolutely have to.

Our journey through Egypt began with an overnight stay at the Pharaos Hotel in Cairo, arranged by our travel agency Djoser. A simple hotel with a surprisingly good breakfast: flatbread, a fluffy omelette, and of course, a cup of coffee or tea. If you’re lucky (and ignore the dusty windows), you might catch a glimpse of the Nile slowly winding through the city from the breakfast area.

The reviews had promised a lot from the hotel restaurant, but to be honest: for a truly satisfying dinner, you’re better off exploring the city. Only… that’s not so easy from this location.

The room itself turned out to be an adventure. The beds were rock-hard, the window wouldn’t close properly so the sound of traffic echoed endlessly, and there was no toilet paper at all, and as if that weren’t enough, a loud air conditioning system next door kicked on every five minutes. So, no peace in sight.

The staff members were very helpful to us and, upon request, gave us a different room — this time without noise and with toilet paper + a window which was able to be closed. A relief, though we couldn’t deny it was a bit of a rough start to the trip.
