This place is terrible. All they care about is making money off patients. My father has been waiting for a PET scan since June 2nd, but he can’t afford a private one. It was done through health insurance, and unfortunately, some government procedures take a long time. The scan was done on June 29th, and the results came back on July 6th. The worst part is, when you go back to the center for a follow-up with the doctor, they tell you, unfortunately, that you have to pay for a new consultation because more than a month has passed since the first one. They say it’s the center’s rules and regulations. You need to remember that you’re dealing with patients. You need to fear God and consider the patient’s needs. Don’t impose rules on them like you’re in the army or the police force. You tell them that after more than a month, they have to pay the full consultation fee, not just the consultation fee. When you talk to the receptionists, they tell you that it’s the system and the instructions. And when you ask to speak to a manager, they tell you not to worry, they’ll tell you the same thing. Before you implement these rules and regulations, remember that you’re dealing with a human being, and not only a human being, but also a patient—a cancer patient. Just because my father came to get a doctor’s consultation to find out about his condition doesn’t mean he should be treated the same way. They told him that if he’s been gone more than four days a month, he’ll have to pay the full consultation fee, which the doctor increased from 850 EGP to 1100 EGP or slightly more. Unfortunately, the center sets this system without considering that patients might be late for appointments due to financial circumstances. They can’t control the timing of scans and tests, some of which take time. Sadly, this place is all about business; they don’t care about the reason for the delay or the patient’s circumstances. All that matters is how to turn the customer into a client. Instead of my father paying 480 EGP for a follow-up appointment, they want him to pay 1100 EGP as if he’s a new patient, just because he came for a consultation after 34 days instead of 30. This shows a decline in our humane treatment of patients. They treat patients like they’re in a military institution, not a military one. Even worse, they didn’t mention that after a full month, he’ll have to pay for a new appointment. This place has no goal other than money. Follow-up appointments shouldn’t be time-bound, but unfortunately, because their goal is to bleed the patient dry, they say, “Let’s implement some system,” some of which are aimed at maximizing revenue from the patient, not improving the humane or therapeutic level. Unfortunately, in many medical facilities, the primary goal has become financial gain, rather than humanitarian concern or consideration for people’s circumstances. Patients have become commodities, with the focus now on maximizing profits.
