I had a wonderful experience at Stephenson Pharmacy, a truly historic place that has been serving the community since 1955. Walking in feels like stepping into a piece of Cairo’s past, with its authentic atmosphere and long-standing tradition of care.
What made my visit especially memorable was the owner’s friendliness and genuine kindness. He took the time to listen, offered helpful advice, and made me feel completely welcome — something you don’t always find these days.
It’s rare to come across a pharmacy that combines decades of experience with such a personal touch. Stephenson Pharmacy is not just a place to get medicine — it’s a place where you feel cared for.
Highly recommended for anyone in Cairo looking for trustworthy service and a warm human connection.

Stephenson Pharmacy is truly amazing—it’s more than just a pharmacy; it’s an educational experience! The family is incredibly helpful and welcoming, and they take the time to give you a full brief on the place. I especially loved learning about the industry and how they still make their own products, including medicines, creams, and lotions. They are so patient and willing to teach you everything, even allowing photos! We ended up buying a lot of their unique items.

This is no ordinary pharmacy. My friend and I stumbled here looking for some cough drops and then found we had walked into a time capsule of an old apothecary. Allegedly the oldest pharmacy in Cairo and you can tell the owners take great pride in it and kept the old architecture intact. Its beautifully maintained, the staff are friendly and the owners also make their own all natural beauty products (skincare, haircare, candles..etc). They let us try a bunch of products and are a good price if you’re a foreigner. I’m not sure if the prices are good for locals but the products really work. I have severe eczema and struggle to find anything that feels good, especially in the cold dry weather of my home country (Canada). Immediately after testing the non-scented body butter and the eczema cream, my skin felt moisturized and irritation was gone. If you’re looking for some fun and trustworthy local products, this is the place for you!

A true hidden gem in downtown Cairo, this vintage English-style pharmacy is a beautifully preserved piece of history. Once you stand in front of it you get a glimpse of the past; original cabinets, vintage jars, classic tools. Beyond being a functioning pharmacy, they make their own skincare creams that are actually high-quality and fairly priced. Besides, the store manager is super nice and takes the time to give you a proper walkthrough.

You simply can’t visit Cairo without experiencing the beauty of this one-of-a-kind hidden gem. It feels like stepping back in time. It’s beautifully preserved and has so much character.
We absolutely loved coming across such unique local finds. The current owner and caretaker of the pharmacy, Mr. Zuhair, as well as Dr. Maryam were incredibly welcoming and kind enough to give us a little tour of the place.
The pharmacy also offer their own range of products and we genuinely loved every single one we tried. The craftsmanship and quality are exceptional and we especially fell in love with the body milk, hair oil, perfumes and candles.
