Amazing to find an all vegan menu in Cairo! The place is a bit hidden (inside another restaurant), but definitely worth seeking out.

The food is good overall, but keep in mind that the vegan chicken and beef are very often not available, which greatly limits the protein options. I tried the lentil soup (very nice), kofta sandwich with fries (great), and the veggie lasagna (unfortunately not a fan, a bit dry and the vegan cheese had a gluey texture I didn’t like).

The owner is very kind and clearly cares about his customers, which I really appreciated.

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars and it should be, but there’s one major flaw that can’t be overlooked. Most of the food is actually vegetarian, not vegan.

I visited in August 2025 after recovering from a stomach bug, so I was very careful about what I ate. As someone who is plant based and gluten free, I was excited as this restaurant had been recommended by a friend as fully vegan. I thought, perfect.

The staff were warm and accommodating, which I appreciated. But because I’ve travelled a lot and know vegan options aren’t always what they seem, I asked detailed questions about the dishes I was considering. The waiter mentioned that several of them contained cream. I asked if it was vegan cream and he wasn’t sure, so he brought out the carton for me to check. It turned out to be dairy.

He then said the restaurant is “probably about 60% vegan”. That’s a problem. You can’t position a place as vegan if a significant number of dishes contain animal products. Vegetarian, yes. Vegan, no. It also means many people who are vegan or lactose intolerant may have eaten here thinking they were safe.

For balance, the food we did have was good. I ordered the moussaka with rice after confirming it was vegan and really enjoyed it. My friend, who has no dietary requirements, had the vegan chicken fajita sandwich and liked hers too.

I just hope they’ve since made changes. Even something as simple as switching to plant based cream or properly recreating those cream based dishes would make a huge difference and align the menu with what people expect. I’m happy to edit my review if they have since, but do double check when ordering.

We were searching for a nice place to eat, and came across Vegan In Our House.
It was very quaint and quiet.
Our server was very nice and helpful and had a bit of humor.
We ordered mousaka, pasta pesto, and a salad.
All was very good, especially the vegan nuggets.
All in all, it was a nice place.
It’s not my favorite thing but it was really good if you like healthy, vegan food.

We had lunch here and came back twice for dinner. There are not a lot of vegan/vegetarian restaurants in Caïro, so this is a really nice place.

Ahmed and the rest of the staff are really friendly.

Just came here for dinner with my husband.

Had a great experience – Mohamed addressed us upon entry and was our waitstaff for the evening. He was very friendly, professional and welcoming.

We ordered the spring rolls, a baked pasta dish (white sauce), the homemade cheese burger with wedges and 2x lemon drinks with a little sugar.

Everything was amazing. Out of all the plant based food I’ve tried around the world, it was my favourite white sauce pasta. I find white sauces can usually be a bit hit and miss with vegan cuisine but these guys nailed it 🤤 my husband (not vegan) enjoyed the burger too. The lemon drink had just the right balance between sweet and sour so not too much sugar as requested.

Food came out promptly and fresh, and priced extremely well for what you get! Very generous portion sizes.

Ambience was chill, we sat outside and enjoyed the company of the very vocal stray cat who we’re told frequents the restaurant regularly.

Will try dine here again during our time in Cairo and recommend to anyone, vegan or not 🤙🏽
