I had the most amazing stay at Villa Layla Hostel. As a solo female traveller I felt completely safe and at home at the hostel. My room was lovely, as were the vast range of communal spaces, including the pool which was amazing after a long day in the sun! The kitchen facilities were great and the hostel is quite close to local supermarkets/corner stores. The staff were incredible – so friendly and helpful and always available for a chat or to answer any questions (which I had many of), this made me feel very comfortable at the hostel. I arranged private tours through the hostel which, again, the staff were very helpful for. I was provided breakfast before my tours, even before one that started at 6am! The tour guides that I had, as well as the hostel’s private driver, were absolutely amazing and so knowledgeable! I also arranged the private transfer to and from the airport with the hostel which was very helpful, especially when arriving as it can be overwhelming, particularly as a solo traveller. Huge thank you to the whole team at Villa Layla Cairo that made my trip unforgettable, I will absolutely be back and would highly recommend staying here!

A little oasis in the heart of Cairo!

The villa is absolutely beautiful, with so much attention to detail and a truly unique charm. The character of the old house has been carefully preserved, while everything remains impeccably clean and well maintained. From the moment you arrive, you feel at home and honestly never want to leave.

What made our stay especially unforgettable was the wonderful staff. They were always cheerful, attentive, and incredibly helpful. You can genuinely feel how much they care about and love this place, which adds so much to the overall atmosphere.

The hostel brings together people from all walks of life and from all over the world, yet everyone feels welcome and comfortable. That sense of community and warmth is what makes this place so special.

We are certain this was not our last stay here. We can’t wait to come back!

During my travels to more than 85 countries, this hostel easily ranks in my Top 5 favorite hostels.
The property is a three-story building with kitchen facilities on the first and second floors, and bathrooms available on every floor. Complimentary tea and coffee are available 24 hours a day. In the intense summer heat, the swimming pool was a perfect place to relax, listen to music, and cool off. The rooms feature ceilings over 20 feet high, creating a spacious atmosphere, while the air conditioning keeps everything pleasantly cool. The interior design is modern, clean, and very well maintained.
What impressed me the most was what I saw during check-out. The staff thoroughly cleaned not only the room but even underneath the mattress before preparing it for the next guest. Seeing that level of attention to detail convinced me that this is truly one of the best hostels I have stayed in.
The hostel also provides 24-hour staff service, and each guest receives an electronic key for both the entrance and their room. The entrance felt secure and elegant, and the marble staircases throughout the building added a touch of luxury rarely found in hostels.
Markets and restaurants are about a 15-minute walk away, making the location convenient while still offering a peaceful atmosphere.
The only small downside? No matter how clean and beautiful a hostel may be, mosquitoes seem to exist everywhere. Even here, I earned a few mosquito-bite souvenirs before moving on to my next destination. 😄

Villa Layla was like my home in Egypt. It’s a fantastic place to stay in Cairo, because of the building and the facilities, but also the staff, they were very nice, helpful, very cool!

The hostel location is great as it is located in downtown and close to many interesting places.

The shared rooms are very clean and comfortable, and also the bathrooms.

If I return to Egypt, definitely will return to Villa Layla as well.

The property itself is fantastic – a calm and tranquil oasis in the middle of the chaos of Cairo. The courtyard is beautiful and a lovely place to sit and relax. The showers and bathroom facilities were clean and never crowded. My private room with a balcony was very spacious and clean, with a great view over the courtyard.

The staff were lovely and more than willing to help with any requests. I arrived early and they kindly allowed me to drop my suitcase and relax in the courtyard before I could check into my room.

Although I did not eat breakfast here, the hostel provides a selection of small snacks and drinks at very reasonable prices.

I stayed for two nights, and despite not spending too much time in the hostel, it was great to come back to some peace and quiet after exploring such a chaotic place as Cairo. I also met some very nice fellow solo travellers here. Would highly recommend!
