The Heavenly Spa at The Westin Cairo Resort & Spa Katameya Dunes

No single place in this world is 100% perfect but I love Heavenly spa and gym for a lot of reasons.
1. I bought a short membership and never regretted about my decision.
2. It’s the best option during cold winter and early spring months: the pool is warm, hot Jacuzzi and steam bath and sauna of course a super option. And lockers are always warm and clean.
3. Gym is small but has all necessary equipment, water/small towels
4. But the main advantage for me is the whole area and vibes of Westin hotel: very beautiful golf fields, beautiful views, nice and cultured people.
5. I like all people who work here: everybody is very friendly, polite and welcoming. The receptionist lady Rehab is a real princess of the place. The chief manager Mr Rommel is a super professional and sociable person.

Any place has its own peculiarities. The pool can be really busy during public holidays and weekends, sometimes lockers are a bit crowded, at the end of the day bath robes are not always available. But it’s just moments. I will continue to go here because advantages of the place make me happy and satisfied.

I booked a massage at the Westin spa for my sister’s birthday during her short vacation in Egypt. She had to arrange childcare and plan her weekend around this visit, so expectations were understandably high.

Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. The spa was not clean, slippers were left on the floor, and children were running around the pool and even in the changing rooms, completely destroying the relaxing atmosphere you expect from a hotel spa.

The jacuzzi water was cold. We were told it would be warm in 10 minutes, then later told it would take another 45 minutes. We asked to speak to a manager and were told all managers were in a meeting, leaving us waiting in our robes at reception.

To make matters worse, the receptionist asked me to “calm down because we are in a spa,” which was dismissive and inappropriate given the situation.

A manager eventually arrived and offered a refund which we asked for, not even offered but no apology or real resolution. A refund does not make up for a ruined birthday and wasted time. This experience was far below Westin standards.

It’s definitely not a 5 stars hotel!!!
