Caras Tours – Egypt

We recently travelled with one other couple through Egypt with Caras (via our Belgian travel organization TravelPlus) and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Our itinerary included Cairo (with a visit to the impressive new museum), Giza, Luxor, cruise on the Nile from Esna to Aswan, Aswan and Abu Simbel, and everything was extremely well organised from start to finish.
A real highlight was our Nile cruise on a Dahabiya – truly a once in a lifetime experience. The boat was charming, the crew were exceptionally kind and attentive, the food was excellent and the atmosphere on board was relaxed and authentic. The excursions were carefully planned and a perfect balance between cultural visits and contact with local communities. We especially want to mention our guide, Mahoud Hassan, who was simply the best guide we could have wished for: very knowledgeable, engaging, very friendly and always ready to answer questions or adapt to our interests.
The hotels arranged by Caras were very good, and the transfers and local transport were perfectly managed. Even though traffic in Egypt can feel a bit chaotic (it sometimes seems like there are no traffic rules!), the drivers arranged by Caras were excellent and careful. All guides were Egyptologists, very well educated, extremely knowledgeable and fluent in English.
Even in these turbulent times, we always felt completely safe while travelling in Egypt.

I put 1 star because I couldn’t do less, I booked a group with luxury and exclusive services, once they arrived on site they added other people to their excursions with an excuse, but above all something very serious, on an excursion they made them risk their lives, making them go around without permits and with cars so old that they broke down leaving them stranded in the desert, all documentable, and they did nothing to apologize, indeed the spiteful because we pointed out the mistakes made, SHAMEFUL
