We were in room 2314 and it was more than 800€ for 3 nights half board 2 adults and 1 child of 10. We had a room facing the Pyramids and the view is magnificent, the best aspect of the hotel. The room is of good size for a 5 star hotel and also the size of the bathroom. There is a balcony. The room and corridors are covered in carpet full of dust and even a ball of hair, which lasted all of our stay. Furniture is old and there is not enough light in the bathroom. Wardrobes are big and they lend you bathropes (we were 3 and only 2 bathropes, maybe they are to be shared, the same with flip flops). The bed has very unconfy matress, one of those that if one moves, makes the second person like moving on a ship). Towels of good quality, broken tray for the 2 amenities on it (1 soap bar and a shower cap). The other amenities were in big bottles (very green and eco) but inside the bottle of shampoo with conditioner there was hand soap and not shampoo (my hair was in such a mess). At 18.30 two of the housekeeping members knocked to ask if everything was ok. I reported the issue about the shampoo and the broken reading light but nothing was done.
They leave complimentary water, tea and coffee in the room.
There is plenty of staff but most of them talking to each other and doing little. Imagine, when we got to the hotel there was a notice on the reception desk about complimentary transfer to the GEM, and I asked about it, and they did not know, just send me to another desk. Aren’t you interested in a service you have on top of your table every day? They have a complimentary service to get you to the GEM (you cannot cross from the hotel to the museum) and 10$ to the pyramids. Swimming pool of good size, but again, who decided to put slippery floor around the pool? I found a screw next to the pool where children were playing bare footed. I told the guy in charge of the pool, that it was dangerous and the entire place should be cleaned (paper toilet wet in al area if the pool for our entire stay). Nothing was done ir was going to be done. They allow smoking all over, even inside the pool, while children are around. Breakfast has plenty of variety and it was indeed very good. Again plenty of staff around but you see some things to fill up, the floor not shiny and with crums from previous days, windows not clean enough. There is no balance between the number of employees and the service one gets. It is not a 5 star in any case.
We booked half board because the area is a bit hostile to go out and look for a place to have dinner. No buffet for dinner, just a set menu. We tried the worst sea bass ever, a very nice pomodoro pasta, average bolognese pasta, terrible tomato soup, very good lentil soup, hamburguer is average and extrenelly chewy meat. The priorities of the staff are unclear because even their boss’ is unclear. You cannot serve the staff of the hotel their dinner first than the guests (the guests arrived first, us in this case, it happened the 1st night) and a long etc. Terrible singer by the pool, no need really.
Again on the check out, they make you wait while someone goes up to your room to see if you took anything from the mini bar. What if there are 20 rooms leaving at the same time? not 21st century solutions.
The best of all, the doorman, I think Ali is his name. Genuine and authentic, wanting to help. Thank you, you are 5 stars.
My stay here was quite enjoyable! 🌴 The rooms were comfortable and well-kept, making for a pleasant experience. 😊 Service was average. The location is just fantastic, truly unbeatable! 🗺️ Highly recommend it for a great getaway.
We had a fantastic stay at the Steigenberger Pyramids Hotel in Giza. The hotel itself is beautiful, offering a comfortable and elegant atmosphere that makes you feel relaxed from the moment you arrive. The location is excellent, and the overall ambiance truly enhances the experience of visiting this historic area.
What stood out the most was the staff. Everyone was extremely professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly, always making sure that we felt welcome and well taken care of. In particular, we had the pleasure of meeting Karima, our housekeeping staff member. She took exceptional care of our suite with great attention to detail and clear pride in her work. Karima was always approachable, kind, and warm, and her dedication made our stay even more enjoyable.
We highly recommend the Steigenberger Pyramids Hotel to anyone visiting Giza and would gladly return. It was an unforgettable experience thanks to the beautiful hotel and its outstanding team.
We stayed at the Steigenberger Dec 22-25, 2025 and had a great time. They were able to accommodate our request for adjoining rooms, and both had a partial pyramid view. The staff was friendly and service was great. Location was perfect, close to the pyramids and the GEM. Food was decent — I would have preferred more local options instead of pizza and pasta — but breakfast was great. Lots of power outlets, which is always critical. Highly recommend!
Undeniably, the location is pretty incredible. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
However, a few things made our stay disappointing that I think anyone coming here should be made aware of.
1 – I booked online and the price they charged me at check in was almost $200 more than what was confirmed when I booked. Luckily, my email had the price confirmed so I showed it at reception. After some back and forth they charged the agreed fee. However, considering I was here two nights, I didn’t appreciate my first experience being the feeling that they were trying to trick me out of significantly more money.
2 – we had no hot water during our stay. The evenings got quite cold, so this was difficult. I flagged this at 5pm, and reception said they’d send maintenance to fix it. I came back from dinner at 9pm, and there was still no hot water (yes, I did run the water for 15 mins as reception originally suggested). I called reception immediately and they told me they’d call me right back. 11pm… still nothing. We took a cold shower and called reception to say it was still cold and we were disappointed. At this point, no apologies for not calling us back and instead they told us the boiler was checked and it was fine. Doesn’t solve the issue that we had no hot water during our entire stay, and this is a 5 star hotel supposedly. At check out, they didn’t care and offered no discount or anything (mind you, they still wanted tips).
3 – the general attitude of staff. We were excited to try the spa facilities, only to be told these won’t be available until next year (though are advertised on website). When the pool staff close the pool at 6pm, they kick you out 5 mins early and not in a nice way. The staff cleaning room were nice, but pushy about being given a good review online. There was also loud construction happening by the pool so it was not very relaxing to be sat 10m away from people drilling into concrete for hours.
In general, the location is indeed very good if you are here for the pyramids. But for the price, this hotel is not worth it. Clearly they get enough business due to the location that they don’t think they need to live up to the 5-star status they advertise. If I was coming back to Giza, I would absolutely stay somewhere else. I would not recommend the hotel to any friends either.
