We had such a lovely stay here. The view of the Pyramids and Sphinx was absolutely beautiful and so clear, definitely one of the highlights of our stay. The staff were incredibly attentive, kind and always happy to help, which made us feel very welcome. Our room was very clean and comfortable, and both check-in and check-out were quick and easy. Such a great experience overall and we would definitely recommend staying here if you’re visiting Giza!
We recently stayed at Gate Hotel Pyramids in a Standard Room. While our room didn’t have a view of the pyramids, it was comfortable, clean, and perfectly fine for our stay.
The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help, which made our experience even better. Breakfast was average, with a decent selection to start the day.
The biggest highlight of this hotel is its location. It’s right in front of the Sphinx and the Pyramids, making it incredibly convenient for sightseeing. It’s also close to major attractions like the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, and only about a 50-minute drive from Cairo International Airport.
Don’t miss the rooftop area—it offers a stunning panoramic view of the Pyramids and an absolutely beautiful sunset, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring.
Overall, we had a good experience and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable stay with an excellent location near Cairo’s iconic attractions.
We had a fantastic stay at this hotel with an unmatched view. Judging by the reviews, my guess is that the experience really depends on which room you book.
We treated ourselves to the one with the private terrace. This must be one of the closest hotels you can get with a direct view of pyramids and sphinx. The view from the terrace, especially at sunset, was absolutely stunning. You get a similar view from the hotel’s restaurant (with less privacy of course).
The room itself was spacious and clean with a comfortable big bed, good hot shower and nice deco (see video). The terrace was hot during the day but does come with a large umbrella. All three pyramids and the sphinx are directly visible from the terrace.
The staff was friendly and attentive from check in to check out. There were some extensions going on on the rooftop and they communicated clearly with us regarding what to expect and came to assist us immediately and apologetically when some of the renovations impacted our terrace.
The food and drinks at the restaurant were average and there are definitely better places to eat in Egypt, so wouldn’t necessarily recommend the hotel for dining. Note also that no alcohol is served on the premises and is hard to find in the area in general.
I read people in reviews complaining about the streets being dirty and smelling of horses. The whole area around the pyramids is very crowded and touristy and there are horse cart rides on offer as well as camels walking about. A natural side effect of this is that there’ll be smell and dusty backstreets. There are also friendly stray dogs running around. Part of the package when visiting here. We didn’t find it to be an issue and certainly couldn’t smell anything from the room, terrace or the restaurant.
Also, it’s important to keep in mind that this is a tourism area. Lots of street selling, high prices and it can be a bit chaotic. It’s hot and dusty. The room with the private terrace was a peaceful safe haven to withdraw to while still being able to enjoy the pyramids.
Plus, the ticket office for the site is right opposite the hotel which makes it really convenient and easy to grab tickets early in the day and saves one walk on an already very walking heavy day.
All in all, for the view alone I truly recommend this place. Having the private terrace was intimate and romantic. We felt like we had the pyramids all to ourselves. Something super special, given the huge crowds that pass through on any given day.
We used restaurant only.
Amazing view of pyramids
Food and service weren’t amazing.
I didn’t like menu without price.
We could choice a set menu only.
Foods are very casual and everything coming in one plate like canteen style and drinks has no glasses, when we asked they bring plastic cup.
They charged 1500+ EGP for per person.
Better to check the date of lighting show before you go.
The day we went has no light shows.
If they are light show, it may be valuable otherwise no point to visit for dinner.
It will be good for having coffee.
Our family of 4 had a wonderful time here! They were very accommodating with our two girls age 9 and 11. We set up a tour through the hotel for the pyramid and one of the kids ended up with a tummy ache. They were so gracious with us and made sure there was nothing (medicine, extra waters ECT..) our little one needed while the oldest and Dad went on the tour. The next day our flight did not leave until 8pm and they had no problems with a late check out so the kids could rest up before our flight to Greece. Breakfast was new every morning and eating on the terrace across from the pyramid is just a dream come true! We could watch the evening light show and hear it all with our having to pay to sit up close. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay right next to the Great Pyramid and Sphinx. The beds are a little hard for us Americans, but we had plenty of pillows and blankets and a clean room with an attached bathroom. Egypt is experiencing a water shortage and the government has stepped in and will shut water off periodically. This was not a problem for us as it was back on before bed for showers, and they must do something. But this is a good thing to be aware of. I am so glad we decided to stay here and experience the magic that Giza and the Gates Hotel has to offer!
